Frequently Asked Questions
Where are we staying?
We are staying at a Caravan Park approximately 20 km out of Exmouth. It is possible that you could spend 1 night of the week camping in Cape Range National Park if you choose to go on an overnight camping adventure.
How will we get there?
We'll hop on a few Coaches from Perth and road trip it up to Exmouth.
How many people per tent?
At the Caravan Park the tents accommodate 6 people; on an overnight camping adventure the tents accommodate 2 - 3 people.
Do we tent with people we don't know?
Each participant gets to nominate up to 5 other people they would like to tent with. We then do our best to match these so that everyone is sharing with as many friends as possible. The one circumstance where this doesn't happen is where there is a mixture of males and females in a group. In this case we will group the males together and the females together and if necessary include people from another group.
What roles do the leaders play?
The leaders are there to provide support for the participants and facilitate many of the details which need to be taken care of on a daily basis. They will maintain an awareness of times for transfers to the different locations/events and have a responsibility to be aware of where participants are at various times.
Are we kept under constant supervision?
The answer here lies in part in your concept of supervision. There will be leaders with each activity as well as other personnel in some cases, ie. If on a Tour, external instructors may also be present. On the other hand, when just relaxing at the beach you will be free during the day to swim in the bay ( under the supervision of the team lifeguards), or are free to wander through the town.
Do we have to follow the day to day itinerary
The itinerary is such that we will all eat dinner and have an evening activity together. However the rest of the program is designed to be by choice; there will be activities and things to do 24hrs of every day, and so it is up to you how you spend your time.
What is the Christian content for the week?
SU-Leavers has no formal Christian input sessions. Each of the leaders is a Christian and the program booklet contains reflections for each day of the event. The remainder of the Christian content arises out of conversations which develop throughout the days activities.
